F.A.Q.

Should I bring anything else to the workshop?

Please bring a water bottle, a lunch and a snack!

Can I still register if the student can’t stay the whole time?

Due to the nature of the workshop, where activities will build upon each other, we ask that registrants attend the full workshop for a complete experience.

Can I still register if my student is moving into grade 5 or into grade 8 this September?

Yes. The age range is not strictly enforced, if you feel your student would benefit from the workshop we encourage you to register!

Are parents supposed to stay for the event?

Parents are not asked to stay, you are welcome to drop off your student and return at the end of the workshop. If you are required to stay with your student please contact us at info@thecodeinitiative.ca as there is limited space and seating.

Where can I park?

The nearest parkade is at Pender Place (750 W Pender St, Vancouver, BC V6C 2T7), however, the workshop is also easily accessible via Skytrain and very close to Waterfront Station.

Is the workshop outdoors?

The workshop will be conducted indoors as the technology needed for many of the activities must remain inside.

What do you mean by neurodivergent?

We mean students who have a diverse way of thinking, learning, socializing, or processing.

This includes students who identify as autistic or have lived experiences with ADD/ADHD, Dyslexia, Generalized Anxiety, or any other diverse needs or intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.

Find out more about what we mean by neurodivergent here.

My student would benefit from learning/social/communication accommodation and/or has an Individualized Education Plan (IEP), how can I make that known?

When filling out our Registration Form, there will be a section where you can add any accommodation and/or learning/social/communication needs.

If you wish to discuss accommodations at greater length please contact us at info@thecodeinitiative.ca.
