Music x AI: Composing with Computers

Investigate the overlap between Artificial Intelligence (AI) and music composition!

In this interdisciplinary curriculum, we will be learning about how computers compose music and how you can too. From deep learning to fundamental music theory— this workshop will fuel your creativity.

Target age range: 6-18 years old

Prerequisites: Both Music x Scratch I and II

Music-related concepts:

• Genres

• Reading music, clefs, etc.

• Notes

• Scales, triads, arpeggios, etc.

• Intervals, chords, etc.

Computer science concepts:

• Definition and examples of AI

• Overlap between music and AI

• Machine Learning

• Deep Learning

Projects & Hands-On Activities:

• Arranging pre-made compositions

• Creative composing your own compositions
